iWrapper is a consumer digital rights management solution that allows publishers to securely manage and distribute Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office documents.
What are iWrapper delivery file formats?
iWrapper secure content is distributed as digitally signed Windows executable and Windows compressed (zipped) file.
What content security options are available through iWrapper?
iWrapper can secure your digital documents for limited view, limited print, and limited term. These security options allow distribution of content with limited number of views, number of prints, and expiration date/days.
Do I need to distribute username/password to end-users?
No, you do not need to distribute username/password to end-users. No end-user specific information is required for the distribution of secure iWrapper content file.
Does iWrapper content file support digital signing?
Yes, iWrapper content files can be digitally signed using Microsoft Authenticode Signing certificate. Digital signing certificates allow content publishers to digitally sign their content for secure delivery over the Internet. Digital Code Signing is virtual "shrink-wrap" for your digital content; if your code is tampered with in any way after it is signed, the digital signature will break and alert end-user that the code is not trustworthy.
Is any software or plug-in required to open secure iWrapper content file?
iWrapper does not require any software or plug-in to be installed on end-user computer to open secure iWrapper content file. Secure iWrapper content file directly open in Adobe Reader/Acrobat (PDF) or Microsoft Office (DOC, XLS, and PPT) depending on the embedded content format.
Do I need Administrator privileges on my computer to open iWrapper content file?
No, iWrapper content file does not require Administrator privileges. It can be opened on Windows-based computers with only Guest privileges.
Are there any firewall related issues with iWrapper?
iWrapper is firewall friendly. iWrapper content file authentication is designed to work with Windows Firewall turned on. It is highly recommended to have Windows Firewall turned on for computers connected to the Internet.
Is always-on Internet connection required to open iWrapper content file?
No, always-on Internet is not required to open iWrapper content file. iWrapper uses three different authentication modes – One-Time Authentication, Real-Time Authentication, and Hybrid Authentication. One-Time Authentication only requires Internet connection for first use of iWrapper content file.
How is iWrapper content file licensed to end-user?
iWrapper content file can be licensed to end-users as Floating, Workstation, and Network license. Floating license option is recommended for limited distribution of confidential information such as patent documents, financial statements, and medical records. Workstation license option is ideal for distribution of secure documents to Internet users. Network license option provides security for distribution of secure documents within enterprise networks.
Is it possible to distribute a secure PDF file without requiring Adobe Acrobat/Reader?
Yes, you can distribute a secure PDF file without requiring Adobe Acrobat/Reader. iWrapper supports iWrapper PDFView (a free embedded PDF file viewer) to allow distribution of secure PDF files that do not require Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
